History of Wyckoff
Wyckoff was originally inhabited by the Leni-Lenape Indians. According to folklore the name Wyckoff is a derivation of either the Indian word "wickoff" meaning high ground or "wickok" meaning water. The township was the site of the Sicomac, "Happy Hunting Ground," where many of the Leni-Lenape were buried. The Township of Wyckoff was incorporated in 1926. |
